Scott Tharp - President/CEO

Scott Tharp was named President/CEO of the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation in May 2007. He formerly served as the Executive Director of Arthur Ashe Youth Tennis and Education, which for many years has been a national model for youth enrichment programming. With a similar mission to Snider Hockey, this organization is known for providing quality tennis and educational programming to thousands of children, many coming from underserved inner-city communities. Scott is devoted to public service and has long believed that sport can be a powerful force in youth development - when coupled with the delivery of life skills and academic programming, the return in social capital is immeasurable.

Scott attended Old Dominion University and the College of William & Mary where he majored in Communication. He obtained a graduate certificate in Public Administration at Wilmington University. Scott is a veteran of the United States Coast Guard. He currently serves as an officer on the Board of Directors of the Goals & Assists Foundation, a 501 c 3 non-profit devoted to providing post-secondary scholarships to deserving Snider Hockey students. He also is a Trustee of the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Support Organization and the Chairman of the PTR Foundation, which is the charitable arm of the Professional Tennis Registry. Scott has served as an advisor for the Sports Management programs at Queens University and Methodist University, and on the Board of Directors for USTA/Middle States. He was inducted into the Unites States Tennis Association/Middle States Hall of Fame in 2015 and was the 2007 recipient of Thomas Jacoby Service Award from the Philadelphia Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. Scott can be reached at This email address is being protected from spambots. Jan Koziara - Executive Vice President

Jan joined the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation as Manager, Hockey Operations in January of 2007 to oversee the Foundation's on and off-ice programming and assist in the development of strategies to expand the reach of the Foundation. He was named Director, Hockey Operations in 2008. Prior to joining Snider Hockey, Jan worked as a management consultant for six years in New York City and Boston.

Jan learned to play hockey in Philadelphia at Rizzo Rink and went on to play and coach Division III College Ice Hockey at Tufts University while earning a B.A and M.A. in Economics. While living in New York, he coached both girls and boys ranging in age from 3 to 63 while an instructor and coach with Central Park Ice Hockey. In 2010, Jan was certified as a USA Hockey Master Coach (Level 5) after writing a thesis that investigated ways Snider Hockey could implement USA Hockey’s Athletic Development Model. Maria Leonetti - Director, Finance

Maria joined the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation in September 2007 to coordinate the Foundation’s financial management and development. She collects and manages donations, maintains the donor database, and oversees the Foundation’s financial controls. Prior to her present position, Maria taught SAT prep with Revolution Prep and worked as a Promotions Representative for Select Promotions, Mad Events, and Coors Brewing Company. She competed in Division I Rowing as a coxswain at the University of Pennsylvania for four years, and she was recently inducted into the Penn Women’s Rowing Hall of Fame. She holds a B.A. from Penn with a double major in Communication and Music (History/Theory) as well as a Certificate in Business from the Wharton School. Jim Britt - Special Advisor to the President and Snider Hockey Board of Directors

Jim Britt retired from his position as the Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation in March 2017. He is owed a special debt of gratitude for his devoted service to the foundation and as its first employee in May 2005. He remains with the organization as a Special Advisor to the President and Board of Directors. He has been a member of the Atlantic District Coaching Education staff for 18 years and is currently the Atlantic District’s Associate Coach in Chief for Development. Jim has attained the Level 4-Advanced Level Coaching certificate from USA Hockey.

In 2004, Jim was honored by the City of Philadelphia with the Brighter Futures Award. In recognition of his service to USA Hockey and the Atlantic District, he was honored as the 2007 Coach of the Year. In June 2008, Jim was honored with the Layman Award from the Philadelphia Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. In October 2010, Jim was honored with the John Neumann Award from the Alumni Association of Neumann University.

Jim serves on the Advisory Council for Neumann’s Institute for Sport, Spirituality and Character Development, on Neumann University’s Business Advisory Council, and is an active participant in Neumann’s Mentorship program. Jim is a member of the Board of Governors of the West Catholic High School Alumni Association, and is the lead of their Alumni Scholarship committee. Jim has been a guest lecturer at numerous universities and sport management conferences, including Neumann, Temple, St. Joseph’s, Villanova, Penn and Drexel. Jim holds a baccalaureate degree in Sociology/Criminal Justice from LaSalle University and a Masters of Science degree in Sport Management from Neumann University. Chris Newton - Senior Manager, Communication & Program Support

Chris Newton is a native of Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia, Canada and first came to the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation in June 2007 as an intern. After graduating Magna Cum Laude from the University of Louisville with a M.S. in Sport Administration in August 2007, Newton became the first Coordinator of Hockey Operations for Snider Hockey. He was promoted to Manager of Hockey Operations in July 2012 and is now responsible for overseeing all tasks related to communications and administration in his role as Senior Manager of Communication & Program Support. Chris completed his undergraduate studies at Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, NS where he graduated in May 2005 with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Finance. Dan Rudd - Senior Manager, Hockey Programming

Dan first joined the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation as an intern in the spring and summer of 2007. Dan attended DeSales University where he majored in Sport Management and played four years on the school's club ice hockey team. Dan was then hired full time in 2009 to run Snider Hockey’s programming in New Jersey at the Pennsauken Skate Zone. Since then he has overseen the creation and growth of the Snider Hockey DVHL program and focused on overall hockey program development Snider Hockey wide. Additionally, he has coached various Snider Hockey travel teams from the Squirt to the Midget level. Dan holds USA Hockey Level 5 “Master” coaching accreditation and has completed USA Hockey’s Hockey Director Certification Course and acts as Snider Hockey’s DVHL rep and USA Hockey registrar. Caitlin Slattery - Senior Manager, Education & Life Skills

Caitlin grew up playing ice hockey in the White Mountains of New Hampshire and first joined the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation in 2008 as a part time coach. In her four seasons as a coach, Caitlin focused her efforts on growing and supporting the academic and Life Skills programming of the Foundation, and expanding the Girls-Only team at Laura Sims Skate House. Caitlin graduated Cum Laude from Wesleyan University in 2006 with a B.A. in Science and Society Program and Women’s Studies. Before joining Snider Hockey full time, Caitlin worked as an academic counselor for University of Pennsylvania’s Upward Bound program, providing academic support and guidance to West Philadelphia high school students. Jenni Brozena - Manager, Development

Jenni Brozena joined the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation in 2017. Jenni is a graduate of West Chester University of Pennsylvania where she currently serves as a Board Member for the College of Health Sciences, and California University of Pennsylvania where she received the Pursuit of Excellence Award for her work in sport science. Prior to joining Snider Hockey, Jenni created multi-site revenue streams for a thriving sports medicine practice and led an athlete development business through domestic and international expansion. Dennis Cunard - Senior Coordinator, Hockey Operations

Dennis Cunard joined the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation as a Hockey Operations intern during the summer of 2011.  After graduating from Rutgers University in December 2011 with a B.S. in Exercise Science and Sport Studies, Sport Management Option, Dennis was hired as a coach with Snider Hockey. While attending Rutgers University, Dennis played for the Rutgers ACHA Division 2 team and was named Captain for his senior season. Dennis has played and coached hockey for over 19 years. In high school, Dennis was named captain his senior year, and after graduating he began coaching his high school’s Junior Varsity and Varsity ice hockey teams. Dennis was hired in November 2012 as Coordinator of Hockey Operations and is currently Site Coordinator of the Tarken Ice Rink. Zack Damico - Senior Coordinator, Hockey Operations

Zack Damico joined the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation as an intern during the summer of 2010. He was hired as a coach in the fall of 2010. He took a leading role at Simons Recreation Center and was an assistant coach of Snider Hockey’s inaugural Bantam B U14 DVHL team. Zack was promoted to Senior Coordinator of Hockey Operations in the Spring of 2016. Zack is currently the Site Coordinator at Simons Recreation Center as well as part of the Snider Hockey Programming team. He currently coaches the Snider Hockey PeWee AA DVHL team. Zack has over 20 years of experience playing and coaching ice hockey. He played travel and high school hockey growing up in Western Pennsylvania and he went on to play club ice hockey for the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated with a B.S. in Sports Management. Gil Schaffer - Senior Coordinator, Hockey Operations

Gil Schaffer joined Snider Hockey in January 2011 as an intern. Following his graduation from Rutgers University in May 2011 with a B.S. in Exercise Science and Sport Studies, Sports Management, he was hired as a Snider Hockey coach. In January 2012, Gil became a Coordinator of Hockey Operations for Snider Hockey. Raised in Hamilton, New Jersey, Gil takes great pride in growing the game in the Garden State. He manages and supervises our After-School programming at the Flyers Skate Zone in Pennsauken. Additionally, Gil coaches the Snider Hockey U16 A National travel team and is Snider Hockey's DVHL Midget Level Coordinator. In the Summer of 2016, Gil was promoted to Senior Coordinator of Hockey Operations. He works specifically on the Hockey Programming team and leads our Coach Development efforts. Gil has over 23 years of hockey experience both playing and coaching, and has been a natural leader on and off of the ice. Gil finished his high school career as Steinert High School’s All-Time Leading Goal Scorer and Captain, and went on to Rutgers University where he was named Captain following his sophomore season. He captained the team to its first two ACHA - Division 1 National Championships appearances in consecutive seasons. Gil has attained a USA Hockey Level 4 Coaching Certificate. Nick Allison - Coordinator, Hockey Operations

Nick Allison joined Snider Hockey in 2012 as a coach at Pennsauken Skatezone. In 2015, Nick was promoted to Assistant Site Coordinator. Nick helped lead our Bantam A team to Snider Hockey's first Atlantic District Championships. For the past two season Nick has coached at the Peewee level where in 2017 he led his Peewee A team to the Atlantic District Championships. Along with everything he does for Snider Hockey, Nick has also helps coach at the Atlantic District Developmental Camps. Nick has played and been around the game of hockey for 20 years and hopes to share all of the knowledge and lessons he has learned with our students. Katy Bowers - Coordinator, Development

Katy Bowers joined the Snider Hockey Development staff in May 2015. An advocate for youth development through sport and education, Katy is responsible for organizing and managing all grant functions of the foundation. She also oversees relationships with Snider Hockey’s Corporate Teammates. Prior to her time at Snider Hockey, Katy served as the Development Officer at the Rodney Street Tennis & Tutoring Association in Wilmington, DE. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Integrated Marking Communication from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh PA. Matt Brady - Coordinator, Hockey Operations

Matt Brady joined Snider Hockey in the fall of 2010 as a coach out of Tarken Recreation Center. In 2012 he was selected to coach the Snider Hockey Squirt B DVHL team. During the 2013-2014 season, the team became one of the first in Snider Hockey history to qualify for the playoffs. Currently, Matt is part of the Snider Hockey Bantam AA U14 coaching staff. Matt holds a Level 4 USA Hockey Certification. In August 2014, he was promoted to Equipment Coordinator. A native of Philadelphia, PA, Matt has over 20 years of hockey experience. He began skating at Scanlon Recreation Center at an early age and has played both roller and ice hockey for several club teams throughout the Philadelphia area. During his time in travel hockey, he was able to help lead his teams to three regional titles, as well as two national silver medals. Matt attended Northeast Catholic High School where he was a varsity letterman in ice hockey, lacrosse and rugby. He studied Marketing and Management at LaSalle University. Gregg Caldaro - Coordinator, Hockey Operations

Gregg joined Snider Hockey in 2008 as a part-time coach, establishing "After School Excellence" program at Simons and Scanlon Rec Centers. Gregg was selected to be the coach of the Snider Hockey Peewee U12 team that played in the Delaware Valley Hockey League in our inaugural season. Currently he coaches the Snider Hockey Midget U16 A team and he will be entering his 8th season coaching travel hockey. Gregg Caldaro has over 25 years of experience playing and coaching ice hockey and holds a level 4 USA Hockey advanced certification.

Gregg was promoted to Coordinator of Hockey Operations in August 2012 to assist the foundation with ice rink related operations and maintenance projects. He has over ten years’ experience managing ice rink facilities and is industry certified in ice making and equipment operations. Additionally, Gregg oversees the Snider Hockey quality assurance program as well as part of the Hockey Programming team.

A native of Denver, Colorado, Gregg grew up playing minor hockey in the Washington DC Metro area before going on to play junior level hockey in Montana and college hockey at Towson University. Nora Cothren - Coordinator, Academics

Nora joined Snider Hockey as one of the first part-time Academic Assistants in June of 2012, and lead academic programming at Laura Sims Skatehouse before being promoted to Coordinator, Academics in September 2015. Nora was an integral member in the academic development of Snider Hockey academic programming during her three years at Sims, especially with programs like Reading Buddies and Required Tutoring. Nora grew up in the Philadelphia area playing high school and club hockey before attending Smith College, where she played for four years, serving as team captain for a season, and twice being named as an ACHA 2nd Team All-American. She graduated from Smith in 2012 with a B.A. in Education and Child Study with a final seminar paper focusing on youth sports and their impact on educational success. Erin Ficca - Coordinator, Alumni Programs

Erin joined the Snider Hockey team in July 2014 as an Academic Assistant, following her completion of M.A. in International Peace and Conflict Resolution, where she researched the impact sports can have on youth development in conflict areas. She also spent the 2014-2015 school year working in High School ESL support. Over the past two years, Erin has led academic programming at Simons Recreation Center and then at Scanlon Ice Rink. She has always been an avid sports enthusiast, playing Division III volleyball and softball for Arcadia University. After her promotion to Coordinator of Alumni Programs, Erin is excited to support students and young adults to discover their passions after Snider Hockey. Jeremy Gillam - Coordinator, Life Skills & Healthy Living

Jeremy joined Snider Hockey as a volunteer in 2013 before being hired as a part-time coach. In 2014, he was promoted to the position of Assistant Site Coordinator at Simons Rink. He earned his B.A. from Albright College and his M.A. of the Humanities from Arcadia University, concentrating in Philosophy at both institutions. His major areas of study included the Philosophy of History, Science, Psychology and Ethics. He recently attained his Level III Coaching Certification from USA Hockey in 2015. Jeremy has always been passionate about athletics, playing a multitude of sports throughout his youth before specializing in NCAA Div. III Golf and Club Hockey at Albright. Following his promotion to Coordinator, Healthy Living & Life Skills, in September 2015, he is now excited to be working towards developing comprehensive educational, health and wellness programs that positively support Snider Hockey families. Casey Kilduff - Coordinator, Hockey Operations

Casey Kilduff first joined Snider Hockey as a part-time coach in January 2015. She began at Rizzo Rink and shortly moved to Simons Recreation Center. She took on a leadership role as SPARKS Coordinator at Simons and coach for the Girls' Development team. Casey was promoted to Coordinator of Hockey Operations and Site Coordinator of Laura Sims Skatehouse in November 2016. She has over 18 years of playing and coaching experience. Growing up in New Jersey, Casey played both boys and girls hockey before moving on to Northwood School in Lake Placid, NY, where she captained the girls' hockey team her junior and senior year. After Northwood, she attended Neumann University where she played four years of NCAA D-III hockey, served as captain her senior year, and graduated in May of 2016 with a Bachelor's Degree in Sport and Entertainment Management. Ryan McCanney - Coordinator, Hockey Operations

Ryan joined Snider Hockey in January of 2013 as a Hockey Operations Intern. After graduating from Neumann University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Sports & Entertainment Management, he joined the foundation as a Part-Time Coach.  After receiving many opportunities in a leadership role on and off the ice Ryan was promoted as the Assistant Site Coordinator of Hockey Operations at the Laura Sims Skate House. Along with serving as the Assistant Coordinator, Ryan is currently an assistant coach for the Midget 18U A team. In October 2015, Ryan was promoted to Hockey Operations Coordinator and is currently the Site Coordinator at Scanlon Ice Rink. Ryan has at least 19 years of hockey experience both coaching and playing in the local Philadelphia area. While he was at Neumann, he played for the Neumann D3 ACHA team.  In his final two years at Neumann he was given the opportunity to help lead his team to its first League Championship and First National Championship Appearance. Sam Napierkowski - Coordinator, Postsecondary Success

Sam joined Snider Hockey as one of the organization’s first academic interns in the spring of 2013. Following her internship, Sam was hired as an Academic Assistant at Scanlon Ice Rink; while at Scanlon, she led various academic programs at the rink. In spring 2015 she was promoted to Coordinator, Education and Life Skills. Sam grew up in Philadelphia – only minutes away from Scanlon – and attended J.R. Masterman High School. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in Urban Studies. While Sam did not play hockey herself, she has always been surrounded by the sport and loves the game. Marissa DeRosa - Volunteer Coordinator

Marissa joined Snider Hockey as a Program Assistant in June 2015. She grew up in the Philadelphia area and graduated from the University of Tampa in 2014. While attending college, she interned for Spectra at the University of South Florida Sun Dome. Marissa gained experience in the sport and entertainment industry as an Event Management and Arena Operations intern as well as a Marketing and Group Sales intern. Marissa also managed the University of Tampa Men’s Ice Hockey team for 2 years. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication, Marissa worked in the Guest Services department at Talen Energy Stadium for the Philadelphia Union. In her role as a Program Assistant with Snider Hockey, Marissa was instrumental in leading communication efforts and expanding the Snider Hockey Volunteer Program. After increasing volunteer involvement and creating new volunteer opportunities with the Foundation, Marissa was promoted to become Snider Hockey's full time Volunteer Coordinator in March 2016. Maddie Temoyan - Program Support Coordinator

Maddie joined Snider Hockey in the fall of 2015 as a Snider Hockey Operations Intern. Maddie graduated from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in 2015 with a B.A. in Economics. Maddie gained experience in the sports industry working for Hobart and Williams Smith's athletic department for both mens and womens ice hockey teams. After completing her internship, Maddie was hired as a Program Assistant, where she led many of Snider Hockey's communication efforts, as well as coaching the Girls' 10U team. In November 2016, Maddie was promoted to Coordinator of Program Support, where she will enhance communication efforts, increase student retention, and oversee Program Assistants while managing day to day tasks at the Snider Hockey Programs office. Maddie is also the Head Coach of the Girls' Developmental team. Maddie has over 8 years of hockey experience playing for the Women's Club team at Hobart and William Smith and locally for her high school team.
