Snider Hockey League students participated in a number of exciting events over the last month to wrap up the 2024-25 season. The SHL Senior Games, Championship Weekend, All-Star Games, and Mites Jamboree were an opportunity to reflect on the season and the skills they worked on over the course of it.
Senior Games
High School division teams traveled to the Class of ’23 Arena to honor their seniors in two regular season matchups.

Before the games, graduating seniors were honored with a ceremony; their family and friends joining them on the ice. In order to highlight their years of dedication to their respective rink, each senior also received a certificate. We celebrated 12 seniors in total: Joel Coleman-Lamar, Tyrel DeFreitas, and Mayan Travis from Simon; Niko Grammenos, Nik Kuczynski, and Riley Walsh from Tarken; Nick Attanasio, Amin Branch, and Sean Massey from Sims; Gavin Conry, Kathleen Lawson, and Bryson Weiszer from Scanlon.

After the ceremony, all four teams competed in highly competitive regular season games. In the first game, Simons took down Tarken in a matchup of the top two teams in the division. The Scanlon Cats defeated the Sims Coyotes to move into third place in the standings in the second game of the afternoon. Congratulations to our graduating seniors – we cannot wait to see what you will accomplish next!
Championship Weekend
The SHL playoffs took place over two weekends, culminating in championship games across all three divisions on Sunday, March 9.

Each of the 15 SHL teams initially make the playoffs, but after two weekends of exciting competition, two teams remained in each division heading into Championship Sunday. The first game saw the Scanlon Cats take on the Tarken Titans in a Junior division rivalry game. After a goal early from both teams, Scanlon shut out Tarken for a period and a half, while adding a few goals of their own. Despite a late push by Tarken, the Cats were able to hold on to win the championship and deny the Tarken three-peat.

In the Senior division finals, the top-seeded Sims Coyotes took on the second-seeded Tarken Titans. In what turned out to be a low-scoring affair with great defense and goaltending, Tarken would jump out to a 2-0 lead five minutes into the second period. Sims would add their own goal in the second, but, despite multiple pushes by the Coyotes, the Titans defense held strong, closing out a tight 2-1 finish.

The final championship game featured the Tarken Titans take on the Simons Sonics. In another game between the two top-seeded teams in their division, Tarken got out to a quick 2-0 lead. Simons was not discouraged, however, as they quickly battled back to take the lead 3-2, before Tarken tied it back up at 3 with 3 minutes left in the second. The Sonics were able to retake the lead with two goals in the final 90 seconds of the second and another at the start of the third. A fourth goal by the Titans was not enough, and Simons held on to win the High School division championship.

All-Star Games
46 Snider Hockey League student-athletes from across the Junior and Senior divisions were selected to compete in the first ever SHL All-Star Games!

The exceptional SHL competitors participated in on-ice skills competitions, with individual winners taking home prizes. Afterwards, the All-Stars were separated into two teams to take part in fast-paced 3v3 hockey games. The student-athletes came to compete, with both games ending in a one goal difference. Each competitor took home their All-Star jersey and a custom hockey card to remind them of their accomplishments on the ice.

Congratulations to the SHL All-Stars!
Mite Jamboree
The Mite season wrapped up on Sunday, March 23 with a Mite Jamboree.

The Mites celebrated a successful season with half-ice games and a medal ceremony, celebrating the work they put in to make this an outstanding season. Congratulations to our Mites on an outstanding season of building your skills on and off the ice!

We are proud of all of our Snider Hockey League student-athletes and coaches on an excellent season. We can’t wait to see what the 2025-26 season will bring!
