Former NHL Pros, Snider Donors, Come Together to Raise $1.95 million for Ed Snider Youth Hockey & Education
The Ed Snider Celebrity Hockey Pro-Am on January 18 was an astounding success for Ed Snider Youth Hockey & Education. The fourth annual event, which took place of the Xfinity Mobile Arena ice, brought together former NHL pros and Snider donors for an exciting afternoon of competitive hockey. Through the support of our incredible event donors, the Pro-Am raised $650,000 for our hockey, education, life skills and scholarship programs. All dollars are matched 2:1 thanks to the foresight and generosity of the late Ed Snider, thereby tripling the total amount raised to an incredible $1.95 million!
Our competitors were divided into two teams, Team Snider and Team CrowdStrike, with both teams looking for a win after the game ended in a tie last year! Former Flyer and Stanley Cup champion Dave “The Hammer” Schultz signed copies of his new book, “Hammered” for all of our attendees. Former Flyer Ed Hospodar once again volunteered to referee the game. Thank you to the following individuals, who served as players, coached, and VIP guests at the event:
Prior to the game, our attendees watched Snider students in action, with the two 10U Snider travel teams taking part in a scrimmage. NHL Hall-of-Famer Mark Howe gave words of encouragement to our students from the bench.
Legendary Flyers Anthemist Lauren Hart kicked off pre-game ceremonies with a rendition of the National Anthem. Afterwards, Snider Ambassador Gini Parent and Flyers Legends Mark Howe and Joe Watson dropped the puck to get the game going. Throughout the game, Flyers Public Address Announcer Lou Nolan and former Flyer Neil Little provided key commentary on all of the exciting action!
Just like the 2024 and 2025 events, the 2026 Pro-Am was another close matchup! While Team Snider took an early lead, Team CrowdStrike battled back to get within one. After a scoring explosion later in the game, Team Snider was able to hold on to a 13-11 victory for their first win in the history of the Pro-Am!
