Snider Students, Staff, and Volunteers Distribute 250 Thanksgiving Meals to Philadelphia Families in Need

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, members of the Snider community distributed more than 250 turkeys and Thanksgiving dinner items to Philadelphia families who need it most. With each meal large enough to feed a family of six, over 1,500 total individuals were impacted by the giveaway. In total, 97 donors contributed over $9,200 to support the meal giveaway at Scanlon Recreation Center.

Meals were distributed at Scanlon Recreation Center, with VIP Bernie Parent joining Snider volunteers to help hand out turkeys.

26 Snider volunteers, made up of full-time staff, members of the Friends of Snider Leadership Committee, Leadership Council, Alumni Network Advisory Committee, students, Snider parent/guardians, and VIP Bernie Parent, worked throughout the day to prepare the content of each meal distributed. Snider collaborated with Brown’s Super Stores Inc. and ShopRite of Fox Street, who provided everything at a discounted price, for the meal order.

In addition to the 250 meals distributed, Snider volunteers also handed out 50 to-go boxes for any individuals who walked up to the meal drive. Snider students went home with free books to keep reading over the holidays!

Thank you to our donors, volunteers, and partners who helped so many of their neighbors create lasting Thanksgiving memories.
