Scott Tharp - President/CEO

Scott Tharp was named President/CEO of the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation in May 2007. He formerly served as the Executive Director of Arthur Ashe Youth Tennis and Education, which for many years has been a national model for youth enrichment programming. With a similar mission to Snider Hockey, this organization is known for providing quality tennis and educational programming to thousands of children, many coming from underserved inner-city communities. Scott is devoted to public service and has long believed that sport can be a powerful force in youth development - when coupled with the delivery of life skills and academic programming, the return in social capital is immeasurable.

Scott attended Old Dominion University and the College of William & Mary where he majored in Communication. He obtained a graduate certificate in Public Administration at Wilmington University. Scott is a veteran of the United States Coast Guard. He currently serves as an officer on the Board of Directors of the Goals & Assists Foundation, a 501 c 3 non-profit devoted to providing post-secondary scholarships to deserving Snider Hockey students. He also is a Trustee of the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Support Organization and the Chairman of the PTR Foundation, which is the charitable arm of the Professional Tennis Registry. Scott has served as an advisor for the Sports Management programs at Queens University and Methodist University, and on the Board of Directors for USTA/Middle States. He was inducted into the Unites States Tennis Association/Middle States Hall of Fame in 2015 and was the 2007 recipient of Thomas Jacoby Service Award from the Philadelphia Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. Jan Koziara - Executive Vice President

Jan Koziara joined the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation as Manager, Hockey Operations in January of 2007 to oversee the Foundation's on and off-ice programming and assist in the development of strategies to expand the reach of the Foundation. He was named Director, Hockey Operations in 2008. Prior to joining Snider Hockey, Jan worked as a management consultant for six years in New York City and Boston.

Jan learned to play hockey in Philadelphia at Rizzo Rink and went on to play and coach Division III College Ice Hockey at Tufts University while earning a B.A and M.A. in Economics. While living in New York, he coached both girls and boys ranging in age from 3 to 63 while an instructor and coach with Central Park Ice Hockey. In 2010, Jan was certified as a USA Hockey Master Coach (Level 5) after writing a thesis that investigated ways Snider Hockey could implement USA Hockey’s Athletic Development Model. Jesse Shafer - Vice President, Development

Jesse Shafer joined the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation as Vice President, Development in October 2017. Most recently, he served for more than seven years as Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations at Philadelphia University (now Thomas Jefferson University). In that post, he directed Power to Innovate, the most successful fundraising campaign in the University’s history, which raised more than $62,000,000 on a $40,000,000 goal.

Prior to that, Jesse was an executive for nine years (three as Vice President) at CCS Fundraising, one of the oldest and largest fundraising consulting firms in North America. In that role, he directed four fundraising campaigns, each of which reached its goal successfully, including the $30,000,000 Campaign for The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center of Philadelphia. Previously, he spent nine years at Temple University in various roles, including editing, research, grant writing and fundraising.

Jesse is a current and longtime volunteer with organizations that support underserved young people in Philadelphia, particularly in the areas of college preparedness and success. He has a B.A. degree in English from La Salle University. Jesse can be reached at

Chris Newton - Director, Communication & Program Support

Chris Newton joined the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation in June 2007 as a Programming Intern. After graduating Magna Cum Laude from the University of Louisville with a M.S. in Sport Administration, Newton became the first Coordinator, Hockey Programs for Snider Hockey. He was promoted to Manager, Hockey Programs in July 2012 and is now responsible for overseeing all tasks related to communications and administration in his role as Director, Communication & Program Support. Chris is a native of Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia, Canada and completed his undergraduate studies at Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, NS where he graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Finance. He also holds a Certificate in Human Resource Management from Saint Mary's. In 2010, Chris attained the Level 4-Advanced Level Coaching certificate from USA Hockey. Dan Rudd - Director, Hockey Programs

Dan Rudd joined the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation as a Programming Intern in the spring of 2007. Dan attended DeSales University where he majored in Sport Management and played four years on the school's club ice hockey team. Dan was then hired full time in 2009 to run Snider Hockey’s programming in New Jersey at the Pennsauken Skate Zone. Since then he has overseen the creation and growth of the Snider Hockey DVHL program and focused on overall hockey program development Snider Hockey wide. Additionally, he has coached various Snider Hockey travel teams from the Squirt to the Midget level. Dan holds USA Hockey Level 5 “Master” coaching accreditation and has completed USA Hockey’s Hockey Director Certification Course and acts as Snider Hockey’s DVHL rep and USA Hockey registrar. Caitlin Slattery - Director, Education Programs

Caitlin Slattery joined the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation in 2008 as a Coach. In her four seasons as a Coach, Caitlin focused her efforts on growing and supporting the academic and Life Skills programming of the Foundation, and expanding the Girls-Only team at Laura Sims Skate House. Caitlin grew up playing hockey in the White Mountains of New Hampshire and graduated Cum Laude from Wesleyan University in 2006 with a B.A. in Science and Society Program and Women’s Studies. Before joining Snider Hockey full time, Caitlin worked as an academic counselor for University of Pennsylvania’s Upward Bound program, providing academic support and guidance to West Philadelphia high school students. Jenni Brozena - Manager, Development

Jenni Brozena joined the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation in 2017. Jenni is a graduate of West Chester University of Pennsylvania where she currently serves as a Board Member for the College of Health Sciences, and California University of Pennsylvania where she received the Pursuit of Excellence Award for her work in sport science. Prior to joining Snider Hockey, Jenni created multi-site revenue streams for a thriving sports medicine practice and led an athlete development business through domestic and international expansion. Katy Hsieh - Manager, Development

Katy Hsieh joined the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation Development Staff in May 2015. An advocate for youth development through sport and education, Katy is responsible for organizing and managing all grant functions of the foundation. She also oversees relationships with Snider Hockey’s Corporate Teammates. Prior to her time at Snider Hockey, Katy served as the Development Officer at the Rodney Street Tennis & Tutoring Association in Wilmington, DE. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Integrated Marking Communication from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh PA. Katy coaches U14 girls lacrosse as well as K-5 soccer. Katy can be reached at

Dennis Cunard - Manager, Human Resources

Dennis Cunard joined the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation as a Programming Intern during the summer of 2011. Dennis was hired as a Coach with Snider Hockey after graduating from Rutgers University with a B.S. in Exercise Science and Sport Studies, Sport Management Option. While attending Rutgers University, Dennis played for the Rutgers ACHA Division 2 team and was named Captain for his senior season. Dennis has coached hockey for over 10 years and is certified as a USA Hockey Level 4 coach. Dennis was hired in November 2012 as Coordinator, Hockey Operations where he was the Site Coordinator for Tarken Recreation Center until December of 2016. Zack Damico - Manager, Hockey Programs

Zack Damico joined the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation as an intern during the summer of 2010 and was promoted to Coach in the fall of 2010. He took a leading role at Simons Recreation Center and was an assistant coach of Snider Hockey’s inaugural Bantam B U14 DVHL team. Zack was promoted to Manager, Hockey Programs in July, 2017. He currently oversees West Region leadership at Simons, Sims, and Rizzo while also leading all student recruiting initiatives. Zack also serves as the DVHL Registrar for Snider Hockey and is part of the Snider Hockey Hockey Programs team. He is currently the Assistant Coach of the Snider Hockey Peewee AA team. Zack has over 20 years of experience playing and coaching ice hockey. He played travel and high school hockey growing up in Western Pennsylvania and he went on to play club ice hockey for the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated with a B.S. in Sports Management. Zack has coached at all levels from "Learn to Play" Mite programs to collegiate women’s hockey teams. He earned a Level 4-Advanced Level Coaching certificate from USA Hockey in 2011. Sam Napierkowski - Manager, Postsecondary Success

Sam Napierkowski joined the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation as one of the organization’s first Academic Interns in the spring of 2013. Following her internship, Sam was hired as an Academic Assistant at Scanlon Ice Rink. While at Scanlon, she led various academic programs at the rink and broke education attendance targets year after year. In the spring of 2015, she was promoted to Coordinator, Postsecondary Success and oversaw the further development of programming and initiatives to support our oldest students and their future educational or professional success. In July 2017, Sam was promoted to Senior Coordinator, Postsecondary Success, which spurred the split between the Middle School Program, which supports middle school students in applying to high school, and High School Programs, which helps guide students on to creating postsecondary plans. Most recently, Sam was promoted to Manager, Postsecondary Success. This change has brought the Alumni Programs under her leadership to support our students through the completion of their postsecondary education and career search. Sam grew up in Philadelphia – only minutes away from Scanlon – and attended J.R. Masterman High School. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in Urban Studies. Gil Schaffer - Manager, Hockey Programs

Gil Schaffer joined the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation in January 2011 as a Programming Intern. Following his graduation from Rutgers University in May 2011 with a B.S. in Exercise Science and Sport Studies, Sports Management, he was promoted to Coach. In January 2012, Gil became a Coordinator, Hockey Operations for Snider Hockey and began supervising Snider Hockey programs at the Flyers Skate Zone in Pennsauken, NJ. In the summer of 2016, Gil was promoted to Senior Coordinator, Hockey Operations and assumed leadership of Snider Hockey's coach development initiatives. In July 2017, Gil was promoted to Manager, Hockey Programs and he now oversees East Region leadership at Pennsauken, Scanlon and Tarken, as well as continuing to lead our coach develoment and coach hiring processes. Additionally, Gil coaches the Snider Hockey U16 A National team, is Snider Hockey's DVHL Midget Level Coordinator, DVHL team scheduler, and referee assignor. Gil has over 23 years of hockey experience both playing and coaching, and has been a natural leader on and off the ice. Gil finished his high school career as Steinert High School's all-time leading goal scorer, and went on to Rutgers University where he was named team captain following his sophomore season. He captained the team to its first two ACHA - Division 1 National Championships appearances in consecutive seasons. Gil is a USA Hockey Level 4 certified coach. Hilary Maggio - Specialist, Community Resources

Hilary Maggio joined the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation in 2014 as a College Counselor. In September 2017, she was promoted to Coordinator, High School Programs. In April 2018, she transitioned into a new role as Specialist, Community Resources. Hilary received her B.A. in Urban Studies and Sociology from Temple University in 2009, and returned to Temple for graduate school where she received her Masters of Social Work in 2015. While in graduate school, Hilary focused on clinical social work, with a particular concentration on health and mental health in communities impacted by mass incarceration. Hilary is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) with over 10 years of youth development experience, and prior to joining Snider Hockey full-time worked in a number of alternative education programs as well as outpatient mental health and substance abuse settings. Jake Scott - Specialist, Data & Program Metrics

Jake Scott joined the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation as a Programming Intern in the fall of 2015. Originally from Michigan, Jake played Division III college tennis at Kalamazoo College, where he received his B.A. in Mathematics and Computer Science. Previously Jacob also worked as an Assistant Tournament Director for the USTA Boys National Championship hosted in Kalamazoo. Following his internship with Snider Hockey in 2015, Jake worked remotely as a Program Assistant focusing on data projects and student retention before joining Snider Hockey full time as Coordinator, Data & Program Metrics in the summer of 2017. Most recently, Jake was promoted to Specialist, Data & Program Metrics. An avid Detroit sports fan, Jake is currently continuing his education at Temple University working towards his Masters Degree in Sports Business and Analytics. Ryan McCanney - Senior Coordinator, Hockey Programs

Ryan McCanney joined the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation in January of 2013 as a Programming Intern. After graduating from Neumann University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Sports & Entertainment Management, he was promoted to Coach. After receiving many opportunities in a leadership role on and off the ice, Ryan was promoted to the Assistant Site Coordinator of Hockey Operations at the Laura Sims Skate House. In October 2015, Ryan was promoted to Coordinator, Hockey Programs and is currently the Site Coordinator at Scanlon Ice Rink. Along with overseeing programming at Scanlon, Ryan oversees the Snider Hockey League (SHL). For the past 4 years, Ryan has also been part of our DVHL coaching staff and helped lead the Snider Hockey Bantam A team to an Atlantic District Finals appearance in 2017. Nick Allison - Coordinator, Hockey Programs

Nick Allison joined the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation in 2012 as a Coach at the Flyers Skate Zone in Pennsauken, NJ. In 2015, Nick was promoted to Assistant Site Coordinator. Nick helped lead our Bantam A team to Snider Hockey's first Atlantic District Championships. For the past two seasons Nick has coached at the Peewee level where in 2017 he led his Peewee A team to the Atlantic District Championships. Along with everything he does for Snider Hockey, Nick has also helps coach at the Atlantic District Developmental Camps. Matt Brady - Coordinator, Equipment & Transportation

Matt Brady joined the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation in the fall of 2010 as a Coach at Tarken Recreation Center. In 2012 he was selected to coach the Snider Hockey Squirt B DVHL team. During the 2013-2014 season, the team became one of the first in Snider Hockey history to qualify for the playoffs. Currently, Matt is part of the Snider Hockey Bantam AA U14 coaching staff. Matt holds a Level 4 USA Hockey Certification. In August 2014, he was promoted to Coordinator, Equipment & Transportation. A native of Philadelphia, PA, Matt has over 20 years of hockey experience. He began skating at Scanlon Recreation Center at an early age and has played both roller and ice hockey for several club teams throughout the Philadelphia area. During his time in travel hockey, he was able to help lead his teams to three regional titles, as well as two national silver medals. Matt attended Northeast Catholic High School where he was a varsity letterman in ice hockey, lacrosse and rugby. He studied Marketing and Management at LaSalle University. Matt can be reached at

Gregg Caldaro - Coordinator, Hockey Programs

Gregg Caldaro joined the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation in 2008 as a Coach, establishing the After School Excellence Program at Simons Recreation Center and Scanlon Ice Rink. Gregg was selected to be the coach of the Snider Hockey Peewee U12 team that played in the Delaware Valley Hockey League in our inaugural season. Currently he coaches the Snider Hockey Midget U16 A team and he will be entering his 8th season coaching travel hockey. Gregg Caldaro has over 25 years of experience playing and coaching ice hockey and holds a level 4 USA Hockey advanced certification.

Gregg was promoted to Coordinator, Hockey Operations in August 2012 to assist the foundation with ice rink related operations and maintenance projects. He has over ten years’ experience managing ice rink facilities and is industry certified in ice making and equipment operations. Additionally, Gregg oversees the Snider Hockey quality assurance program as well as part of the Hockey Programming team.

A native of Denver, Colorado, Gregg grew up playing minor hockey in the Washington DC Metro area before going on to play junior level hockey in Montana and college hockey at Towson University. Gregg currently resides in Yardley, PA with his wife Jeanine and daughter Clare. Gregg can be reached at

Colin Fafara - Coordinator, Hockey Programs

Colin Fafara joined the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation in 2014 as a Coach, has coached numerous DVHL teams, served as Site Coordinator at Rizzo Rink, and led efforts to standardize goalie training. Colin is a graduate of Temple University, where he majored in Sport & Recreation Management. He was promoted to Coordinator, Hockey Programs in 2018 to be Site Coordinator for the Class of 1923 Arena at UPenn as Snider Hockey expands operations there, and will also oversee goaltender development across the entire organization. Erin Ficca - Coordinator, Alumni Programs

Erin Ficca joined the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation in July 2014 as an Academic Assistant, following her completion of M.A. in International Peace and Conflict Resolution, where she researched the impact sports can have on youth development in conflict areas. She also spent the 2014-2015 school year working in High School ESL support. Over the past two years, Erin has led academic programming at Simons Recreation Center and then at Scanlon Ice Rink. She has always been an avid sports enthusiast, playing Division III volleyball and softball for Arcadia University. After her promotion to Coordinator, Alumni Programs, Erin is excited to support students and young adults to discover their passions after Snider Hockey. Erin can be reached at

Justin Foley - Coordinator, Hockey Programs

Justin Foley joined the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation in November 2013 as a Coach. After fine tuning his leadership skills on and off the ice, he was promoted to Assistant Site Coordinator at Scanlon Recreation Center. Along with serving as the Assistant Coordinator, Justin was also a Life Skills programming leader and helped implement off-ice programming at Scanlon. In July 2017, he was promoted to Coordinator, Hockey Programs and is currently the Site Coordinator at Simons Recreation Center. Jeremy Gillam - Coordinator, Life Skills & Healthy Living

Jeremy Gillam joined the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation as a Volunteer in 2013 before being hired as a Coach. In 2014, he was promoted to the position of Assistant Site Coordinator at Simons Recreation Center. He earned his B.A. from Albright College and his M.A. of the Humanities from Arcadia University, concentrating in Philosophy at both institutions. His major areas of study included the Philosophy of History, Science, Psychology and Ethics. He recently attained his Level III Coaching Certification from USA Hockey in 2015. Jeremy has always been passionate about athletics, playing a multitude of sports throughout his youth before specializing in NCAA Div. III Golf and Club Hockey at Albright. Following his promotion to Coordinator, Life Skills & Healthy Living in September 2015, he is now excited to be working towards developing comprehensive educational, health and wellness programs that positively support Snider Hockey families. Casey Kilduff - Coordinator, Hockey Programs

Casey Kilduff joined the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation as a Coach in January 2015. She began at Rizzo Rink and shortly moved to Simons Recreation Center. She took on a leadership role as SPARKS Coordinator at Simons and coach for the Girls' Development team. Casey was promoted to Coordinator, Hockey Programs and Site Coordinator at Laura Sims Skatehouse in November 2016. She has over 18 years of playing and coaching experience. Growing up in New Jersey, Casey played both boys and girls hockey before moving on to Northwood School in Lake Placid, NY, where she captained the girls' hockey team her junior and senior year. After Northwood, she attended Neumann University where she played four years of NCAA D-III hockey, served as captain her senior year, and graduated in May of 2016 with a Bachelor's Degree in Sport and Entertainment Management. Stephanie Kulaszewski - Coordinator, Human Resources

Stephanie Kulaszewski joined the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation as Coordinator, Human Resources in 2018. She grew up in South Jersey and received an Associate's Degree in Business Administration from Rowan College at Gloucester County. Stephanie then went on to Rowan University to receive a B.S. in Human Resource Management. During her time in college, Stephanie interned at Rich Products Inc. and ATC Healthcare Services. After gaining experience through her HR internships, Stephanie became the HR Administrator for Di Bruno Bros. in Philadelphia for 2 years. Mubarak Lawrence - Coordinator, Service Learning & Career Development

Mubarak Lawrence joined the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation in 2018. Mubarak previously served as the Chief Operations Officer and co-founder of a non-profit start-up Rising Sons/Ones Up; which focused on providing opportunities of economic mobility for disconnected Millennials through civic engagement. Mubarak graduated from Ursinus College with a B.A. in Business and Economics and a Minor in Media and Communication. Immediately after graduating, he worked as a 2-term AmeriCorps member with City Year (2010-11) and VISTA (2011-12) in Philadelphia. Recently, Mubarak just completed his 2-year Echoing Green fellowship for Social Entrepreneurs. He is passionate about creating systematic and sustainable change that will eliminate the cycles of violence, illiteracy and poverty in low-income communities. Mubarak can be reached at

Kelly Leibolt - Coordinator, Academics

Kelly Leibolt joined the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation in 2018. She received her undergraduate degree in Physical Education & Health from Slippery Rock University. Before coming to work for Snider Hockey she had spent 18 years working with the YMCA as a Program Director with experience with overnight camp, day camp, youth sports, aquatics and outdoor education. Inella Ray - Coordinator, High School Programs

Inella Ray joined the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation as Coordinator, High School Programs in 2018. As a Philadelphia native and a proud product of, The School District of Philadelphia, Inella knows all too well the challenges that serve as academic barriers for students within the city. To that end, Inella wanted to be a part of a collective effort to close the achievement gap between the current state of students and where their potential lies. Rooted in that purpose, Inella accepted this role with Snider Hockey. Inella graduated from Temple University’s Fox School of Business in December of 2015, where she obtained her B.B.A. in Economics. Shortly thereafter, Inella led a career within the Finance industry. In search of a higher purpose, Inella left her role within the Finance industry to pursue a career dedicated to improving outcomes for urban youth, particularly underserved communities. As a first generation college graduate, Inella is aware how daunting the college admissions process can be; Inella is here to lessen that burden for students and their families and to develop a postsecondary plan that makes sense for each student she serves. Erin Robinson - Coordinator, Middle School Programs

Erin Robinson joined the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation in 2017. She recevied her undergraduate degree from Widener University, where she taught martial arts and self-defense classes to students of all ages. After graduating from Boston University with a Master's Degree in Social Work, Erin spent the next three years assisting immigrants and low-income students aspiring to attend college. Now that she is back in the Philadelphia area, she is excited to work with Snider Hockey middle school students and their families as they begin the next steps in their academic careers. Maddie Temoyan - Coordinator, Program Support

Maddie Temoyan joined the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation in the fall of 2015 as a Programming Intern. Maddie graduated from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in 2015 with a B.A. in Economics. Maddie gained experience in the sports industry working for Hobart and Williams Smith's athletic department for both mens and womens ice hockey teams. After completing her internship, Maddie was hired as a Program Assistant, where she led many of Snider Hockey's communication efforts, as well as coaching the Girls' 10U team. In November 2016, Maddie was promoted to Coordinator, Program Support, where she will enhance communication efforts, increase student retention, and oversee Program Assistats while managing day to day tasks at the Snider Hockey Programs office. Maddie is also the Head Coach of the Girls' Developmental team.
