This summer, Ed Snider Youth Hockey & Education welcomed 549 young student-athletes across 9 weeks of summer programming to create opportunities for campers to develop their hockey skills, build friendships, and gain confidence on and off the ice. Each week included unique on and off ice practices, life skills sessions, fun academic activities, eventful field trips, and much more.
Field Trips
Students had the opportunity to take their learning and team-building beyond the rink through different field trips around Philadelphia. Elementary and middle school campers visited the Franklin Institute, the Philadelphia Zoo, and Citizens Bank Park, giving them the chance to explore, learn, and create memories together outside of their normal camp activities.
Bernie Parent Goaltending Camp
This summer also marked a new chapter for Snider with the first ever Bernie Parent Goaltending Camp. This half of the week was spent at the Flyers Training Center in Voorhees, New Jersey. Over 30 student-athletes participated in productive skill sessions on and off the ice. Students were also joined by guest speakers, including Flyers Alumni Todd Fedoruk and Robert Esche, Snider Ambassador Gini Parent, and Lehigh Valley Phantoms Goalie Carson Bjarnason.
Camino Farms
Ed Snider Youth Hockey & Education took campers beyond the rink for its first ever overnight camp at Camino Farms. The week combined hockey with outdoor activities, arts and craft, pickleball, soccer, and many more. It gave campers the opportunity to build new friendships, step outside their comfort zones, and create lasting memories together.
Pat Capone Camp
This summer we hosted our 6th annual Pat Capone Memorial Camp at Pennsauken Skate Zone. Over 80 Snider student-athletes spent the week building their skills, growing their confidence, and creating lasting memories while honoring Pat’s legacy of mentorship and passion for the game. The Capone family visited camp during the week to see firsthand the impact their donation has on our student-athletes.
Building Little Free Libraries at Girls Camp
At girl’s camp, students were able create and build free little libraries.
Neighborhood Contracting took time to teach the girls about construction and working as a team. They expressed their creativity working on the libraries, which will be placed at he city rinks when the season begin.
