Snider Students Celebrate Ed Snider’s Legacy at Flyers Game

The Ed Snider Legacy Game was a night to remember for thousands of fans as they cheered the Philadelphia Flyers on to an exciting victory over the visiting Anaheim Ducks! Students from Ed Snider Youth Hockey & Education participated in a series of special activities throughout Xfinity Mobile Arena as the Flyers hosted students of all ages for professional mentorship opportunities, Mites on Ice, Zamboni rides, and much more!

Prior to the game, the Flyers continued to express their support for Snider through a $300,000 donation from Flyers Charities. This donation will be matched 2:1 by the Ed Snider Youth Hockey & Education Support Organization, bringing the total donation to $900,000!

Flyers Charities presents Snider President & CEO Scott Tharp with $300,000 check.

Following the check presentation, Comcast Spectacor employees, including those from the Philadelphia Flyers and Flyers Charities, donated their time to teach our students about their respective careers and current roles while giving them a behind-the-scenes look at everything it takes to successfully run an NHL game at the Xfinity Mobile Arena. To kick off the event, Flyers General Manager Danny Briere addressed our students, encouraging them to learn valuable lessons from their mentors. In total, 30 Snider high school students got firsthand expertise from professionals in the fields of communication, events, hockey operations, video production, and much more!

Snider students learned about everything that goes into the team behind Flyers PA announcer Lou Nolan.

In addition to the Flyers Mentorship Night, Snider students were invited to take part in a variety of activities before and during the game, including cheering on the Flyers from the bench during team warm-ups, handing out high-fives to players as they hit the ice, riding the Zambonis during each intermission, and participating in two Mites on Ice games. Along with these unique experiences, over 500 Snider students, staff, and family members were in attendance to support the Flyers from the stands!

During the first intermission, Snider’s first employee and former Executive Director, Jim Britt, was honored by the Flyers and USA Hockey with the 2026 Ed Snider Legacy Award. This award recognized his long career in education and youth hockey, as well as the number of young lives he has impacted.

Thank you to the Philadelphia Flyers and Flyers Charities for continuing to honor the legacy of Ed Snider and providing our students with an experience they will never forget!
