Continuing Support for Alumni

Students receive support and guidance through their one-on-one relationships with their Alumni Advisors and other staff mentors, scholarships to pursue postsecondary education, assistance in gaining meaningful work experience, and connecting with career networks. Within five years of graduating high school, Alumni are on a path to personal success and are motivated to support younger Snider students through a combination of advocacy, volunteering, networking, and giving.

Scholarship Programs

Postsecondary success for Alumni is facilitated primarily through three scholarship programs: Goals & Assists; Phil Weinberg Game Ready; and Snider Hockey Over Time (SHOT). For Alumni participating in any of the three scholarship programs, advisors provide structured support to ensure a successful transition from secondary to postsecondary education, continued success as a student, and ultimately a timely graduation.

Career Readiness

Following high school graduation and throughout their postsecondary experience, Alumni continue to receive support as they begin to build their careers. All Alumni have access to job and internship opportunities that allow them to develop skills, experience, and insights that will build the foundation of a successful career, and provide exposure to pathways to help them identify and progress towards career goals. On the path to Career Success, Alumni will have networking opportunities, resume review, internship application support, and receive career readiness resources.

Snider Alumni Network

The Snider Alumni Network ensures that Snider alumni remain connected to the organization after graduating high school. The network hosts career exploration activities, provides networking opportunities, and encourages alumni to give back to the organization. Alumni are encouraged to stay in contact with their Snider peers and Snider staff and to actively engage with opportunities provided through the Alumni Network.

With the help of Snider, I became more than just a product of my environment. I am proud of how I took control of my life.

Snider enhanced my perception of education by teaching me to have the mindset that we are always learning, whether it be at school, on the ice, or elsewhere. This mindset is what encouraged me to pursue higher education, which I didn’t anticipate in high school.

Since high school, I had dreams of attending West Chester University, but I was not initially accepted. Coach Sam encouraged me to attend the Community College of Philadelphia (CCP) after I graduated high school. I excelled at CCP and enjoyed furthering my education. Once I earned my associate’s degree, I was blessed to be awarded the Goals and Assists Scholarship to attend West Chester University, which was a dream come true.

I received the Game Ready Scholarship and the Goals and Assists Scholarship, which allows me to graduate with little to no debt from university. After this semester, I am very proud to say that I will be the first person in my family to graduate from college.
